My Experience at the Young Diplomats Forum

Five days of diplomacy, international dialogue and connections with the next generation of global leaders.

I had the incredible opportunity to represent Regent’s University London at the 26th edition of the Young Diplomats Forum, held in London from 21 to 25 September. Organised by the Global Diplomatic Forum, the event brought together aspiring diplomats and young leaders from around the world to explore the challenges shaping international relations.

Throughout the forum, I attended insightful discussions with distinguished speakers, including ambassadors from Finland and Uzbekistan, and sessions exploring China’s foreign policy, artificial intelligence, climate change and the evolving role of diplomacy. Interactive policy workshops and a diplomatic crisis simulation offered valuable opportunities to develop practical skills and gain a deeper understanding of international decision-making.

Learning from the diplomats of tomorrow

While meeting experienced diplomats and hearing their perspectives was incredibly valuable, the highlight of the experience was undoubtedly learning from my fellow participants.

Meeting ambitious, passionate and like-minded individuals from different countries gave me the opportunity to exchange ideas, challenge my own perspectives and better understand how international affairs are viewed around the world.

It was also a pleasure to share this experience with fellow Regent’s students Aymen Chahine Meziane, Amanda Taylor, Togrul Tahirov and Nuria Fabrega. Having classmates alongside me made the experience even more memorable, as we had the opportunity to learn together, exchange perspectives and represent our university within an international community of aspiring diplomats.

What made these connections particularly meaningful was knowing that many of the people I met will be the future diplomats and international leaders I may one day work alongside. The friendships and professional relationships we established are something I hope to carry with me throughout my career.

This experience reminded me that diplomacy is not only about international institutions and foreign policy, but also about the people and relationships that make international cooperation possible.

An unforgettable opportunity

I am extremely grateful to Regent’s University London for making this experience possible and giving me the opportunity to represent the university at such an inspiring international event.

My sincere thanks also go to all the outstanding speakers who shared their experiences, insights and advice, and a special thank you to Younes and Shy for their dedication and hard work in bringing together this incredible community of young leaders.

I leave the Young Diplomats Forum with new friendships, fresh perspectives and an even greater enthusiasm for international affairs. Most importantly, I leave knowing that the future of diplomacy will be shaped by many of the inspiring people I had the privilege of meeting.

I look forward to seeing where our paths cross again.
